Teaching Your Child About Digital Citizenship
Digital Citizenship Lessons in the Classroom
All district employees who work with students, will complete a Digital Citizenship course for educators. Once teachers complete their training, students in each grade will be provided Digital Citizenship instruction. Students will be required to complete their training prior to receiving a laptop. Once the course is complete the students will earn a certificate of completion. The learning will not end there. Teachers will continue to provide lessons throughout the school year to ensure students know how to be a responsible digital citizen.
Digital Citizenship Lessons from Home
As a parent or guardian, you have the most profound impact on your child and online safety must continue at home. Providing guidance in a meaningful yet positive way can help students acquire these skills. In the video created by ISTE (International Standards of Technology Education), Links to an external site. below you will hear about teaching students the "Do's" of Digital Citizenship and not the "Dont's". This takes the negative aspect of the skills and turns them into positive statements making them more receptable by students.
