About the Instructors

My name is Kelley Meeusen, and I am the CPTC eLearning Coordinator. I grew up in a small fishing town in Alaska. All my friends and family were either fishermen or related to fishermen.  I first stepped foot on the deck of a fishing boat when I was 13 years old, and continued to fish until I was 35 when I decided I would try using my brain to make a living instead of my aching back. I soon discovered that my back was much better than my brain, but I am still here and still trying.

I am a graduate of Tacoma Community College's Health Information Management Program and worked at a regional medical center for almost 20 years as a middle manager and ultimately an administrator primarily responsible for health care compliance and quality improvement. Along that journey, I was bitten by the teaching bug, and the infection set in. I was a pioneer in online teaching in Washington State - starting in 1999, and have always had a strong interest in instructional technology and its potential for improving the teaching and learning experience. I guess you could say that my teaching infection is now terminal.

I am the proud father of four and the even prouder grandfather of 17, so when we talk, expect to be bored with lots of stories about children.

As an online instructor I have a growing interest in making the LMS work the way I prefer it to work, which is what lead me to begin exploring ways to modify pages in the LMS using HTML code.

Welcome everyone!

 About Cindy

My name is Cindy Overton and I am the CPTC eLearning Support Specialist.  I and my family settled here in Washington for the last time in 1992 after I had been an Army spouse for 20 years.  I was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario Canada and spent my first 12 years traveling from base to base as an Air Force Brat before finally ending up here in 1968. My favorite place was Bermuda where we spent three fun filled years and luckily never fell into the Triangle.  I and my family have also lived and traveled in Europe, Asia, and spent three years in Hawaii with the military.

My work history/job titles include retail sales and management, Distance Learning Support, Continuing Education Office Support and finally eLearning Support Specialist here at CPTC.  I have a AAT in Office Technologies and a Certificate in Web Design and Development, both from Clover Park Technical College.

Outside of work I have been married 39 years, have 3 children, and 1 adorable 3 year old granddaughter, named Hailey. I absolutely love wandering through any antique store within breathing distance.

Enjoy Class!

Cindy

Danielle Casey

About Danielle

My name is Danielle Casey, and I'm the eLearning Program Coordinator at Lower Columbia College. I've lived in Kelso, Washington my entire life, if you don't count the 6-month stint I did in Minnesota, the ice box of America. We lived out in the woods on a small farm, but my stepfather saw the wave of the future coming and made sure my brother and I had access to a computer as soon as he could afford one. When his hazard pay for Enduring Freedom kicked in, I discovered my love of these infuriating contraptions.

I'm young enough to have grown up in the information age and old enough to have spent most of my childhood outside. The benefit of having my job at my age (24) is that I'm perpetually surrounded by people both smarter and more experienced than I am. I'm a baby, but I'm an unstoppable baby.

Before eLearning, I was a tutor here at LCC for five years. I also spent three of those years running an after school program where I housed 60 to 70 children from kindergarten to 5th grade, Monday through Friday. That job taught me how to communicate, stay calm in the face of chaos, mediate ridiculous conflicts, and use the 'mom voice.'

I have a cat named Gary, a husband (not named Gary), and an undying love of the orangutan, the greatest of the great apes. I'm obnoxiously helpful, and I never trust anyone who thinks they're too good for jeans.

Happy coding!

Danielle
