Federal Bureaucracy

The Federal Bureaucracy is the unelected, administrative body in the Executive Branch.  It is arranged into departments, agencies and commissions. In other words, Bureaucracy refers to the various divisions and departments that actually run the government.

The main function of the Federal Bureaucracy (federal employees), is to carry out the policy and work on the details of the bills passed by Congress.  A large majority of the federal employees come under the Executive Branch. There are approximately 2.5 million federal employees under the executive branch.
