Consistency in mechanics.
Grip and Strength
Kicking:
Steps: line up 10 yards back, slow approach, plant your foot, keep your hips open and chest pointed outward, keep your foot locked out and land on your kicking foot.
You want to kick the ball a 1/4 the way up on the seams.
Blocking:
Reach Block - reach across the defender on the other side (used for run plays)
Pass Protection Blocking Form: keep arms extended, elbows bent inward, head up and shoulders back, strike with the palms
Run Protection Blocking Form: Keep tight hands inside of defender's chest, minimize wasted movement
Base Block - performed on a defensive lineman lined up directly over an offensive lineman
Cut-off Block - on an angle to the defender after allowing the defender across the line
Tackling:
Maintain the two V's: ankle to knee and knee to shoulder
Form Steps: Stay low, come to balance, eyes at the waste level, remain under control.
Hit position - body position on the point of contact.
