Rules of Badminton:
Singles and Doubles
Win two sets faster than the opposing team.
Score 21 points and be ahead by 2 points to win a set.
To score you must hit it over your opponents net and it fall on floor within the lines.
Court is 13.4 meters long and 6.1 meters wide.
Game begins with a serve.
You cannot hit the shuttle rocket outside of the area of play.
You cannot hit the shuttle rock twice in a row.
You cannot hit the net.
You cannot hit the rocket into the net or touch it with your body.
You have tow in two sets to win the match.
Fault - infractions resulting in a loss of a point
Let - something has interrupted play, replay the shot
Grips:
1. Forehand Grip - V-shape, fingers loose, space between index and middle finger
2. Backhand Grip - thumb on top and fingers relaxed underneath, strings facing upwards
3. Bevel Grip - strings are at an angle, rotate wrist, thumb on top fingers relaxed underneath
4. Panhandle Grip - easy to hit, use for the late backhand, thumb on the side, fingers pinching the racket
Serve:
1. High backhand grip
2. Racket position is at a 45 degree angle close to the body
3. Hold the shuttle halfway done with your thumb and index finger
4. Shuttle angle should be at an angle
5. Your racket leg should be forward, stand close to service line.
6. Shuttle starts on the racket then swing
Backhand:
1. Spilt step, chasse and pivot in the direction you want, lunge, rotate back to center
Smash:
1. Face body sideways, racket arm @ 90 degrees, non-racket arm pointing up
2. Forehand grip to slight panhandle grip, loose grip until last second, low grip
3. Position behind the shuttle at point of contact, rotate forward into the shot, elbow back
Late Backhand:
1. Use a pan handle grip
2. Controlled movement with body upright
3. Low center of gravity
4. Split step, chasse, pivot
5. Hit with a slight distance in your elbow
