May 7: Students, the Media Center will be closed May 10-25 in order to prepare for the end of the year. Any assignments that need to be completed need to be done before next Friday, or no credit will be given. Also, remember to use to use the restroom before you come to class.

4.28  Due to the Milestones test, there will be no virtual class tomorrow (4.29).

4.21 Weekly Update: Several people have not completed all of the assignments in the module.  When you submit your assignments, please make sure your submission to Canvas is complete.  Also, If you have not done so, please complete the Latin America post test.

3/29 Update from Ms. Miller:

If you have a grade below a 75 on the Latin America Pre-test , take it over soon and let me know. This is a test grade!

If you have missing work that you would like to do, also do it, and e-mail me the specific name of the assignment.

March 23 Update: Please continue to finish the 4 assignments (extended due dates) in the Australia Module. Work on the Latin America Module per the due dates as well. Please keep up with the due dates. Thank you.

March 12 Update:  I am back at school! Be sure you come to school with all of your books and supplies Tuesday. We will not have computers that day in class. You will need your book and workbook that day. I am looking forward to seeing everyone...get some rest this weekend, and be ready to learn on Tuesday!

March 8 Update: Please make sure all of your assignments are complete. At this point, I will be putting in only missing assignment grades  that I see in Canvas today. If I don't finish, I will continue tomorrow. Please be patient.

I appreciate all of your prayers. I am getting MUCH better! I have a appointment with a doctor Tuesday, and I hope to be released to come back to work soon!

We are starting the new unit "Latin America" today. Please do the new assignment in the textbook, and submit the constructed responses into the textbox.

For Study Skills, do all of the Pi Day Activities in the module.

March 1 Added Update:  1st Period there is an Australia 1 Test Duplicate that you may do in the next 2 days...only if you have a failing grade. The rest of the classes had an opportunity to do that, but apparently it did not transfer over to your class period. I fixed it...Australia Test 1 Duplicate. If you have a passing grade, do NOT re-do. Anyone in all of my classes may re-do  either Australia 1 or Australia 2 ONLY  if you have a failing grade.

Also, as I slowly go through grades (please be patient...it may take me all week to update your grades and changes in the system, I am noticing a lot of missing work/ failing grades. I am looking through old/ re-submitted/updated work to help you, but some of you are ignoring the work, and just not trying. I obviously cannot be there right now to give you that personal word of encouragement, but just know that I am your champion on this end trying to get you to your personal best...but you must do your part...and I will do mine.

March 1, 2021 Update:  There is a new assignment at the top of the Module: USA vs. Australia latest vaccine rollout 20 facts due March 3rd by 3 pm. Please stay current with your due dates, as my grades have to be in soon. Please limit your emails to me right now, as I am trying to spend all of my time updating grades, etc., so you will be in good shape for the end of the 9 weeks. If I do not answer an email immediately, please understand that I have been very ill (requiring ER visits, etc). I am doing as much as I  am able to take care of you all. I love you all, and I hope to see you soon.  Do you best and get the grades in asap! Thank you. Ms. Miller

2/17/21: I updated all of the grades! Thank you for all of your patience during my covid illness. Stay safe and keep working... there are new lessons in the modules. Keep up with the due dates...Much love to you all! DO YOUR BEST...after all you are an ARJ Panther! ONLY ACCEPT THE BEST FROM YOURSELF! I hope to see you soon!!!

Love you all...Ms. Miller

2.17.21 Updates:  Please read the important message below  from Ms. Grove concerning blocks !!!!!!!
Continue to update you lessons in Canvas.  Read the modules. I am still getting a lot of lessons placed in the wrong area, and a lot of short answers. At this point, you KNOW my expectations...Scan into Canvas, or if you have to type work in the text box, you are required to use complete sentences/ and or constructed responses..NO EXCEPTIONS. If I cannot read something that you improperly took a picture of with your phone, I will not grade it. Read my comments that I left you in Canvas. I gave explicit directions on uploading into Canvas since the first week of school on my homepage. Contact me if you are still struggling, so we can work out a solution, so I can help you meet  expectations!!!
We are pushing time, and you may have new lessons in the module. LOOK DAILY for new assignments...Complete by  due dates! I can see when you entered...etc.  DO YOUR BEST!
2.17.21   Important Message From Ms. Grove: If you have students complaining that they get an Access Denied screen when they login to Canvas, tell them to ignore it.  It defaulting to landing on 6th Grade Social Studies, and if they aren't in 6th grade they will see the padlock screen.  It is making students think they are locked out of their account entirely, but they can still click on Courses and see the classes they are actually enrolled in.

2/5/21 Weekly Update and Concerns: I can be reached today through e-mail (if you need me).

You all need to read the module lessons several times before you start the assignments.

-Some students submitted 10 facts instead of 20 (In the cases where I have asked for 20)...READ CAREFULLY!

-Some students wrote in paragraph form, instead of numbered sentence form.

-Some students disregarded proper grammar.

-Some students did not submit anything.

-Some students submitted late.

-Some students copied and pasted.

Be aware that you will lose points in all of these cases. Read my comments to you in the Canvas Module lessons.

We are in the 3rd nine weeks, and it is time for you all to try your absolute best!  We are A. R. Johnson...and I expect NOTHING but your BEST!

Play media comment.

January 12 Update

Currently, we are going to be studying Australia including the location, physical features, economic systems, various forms of  trade, colonization, and the impact of English colonization on Aborigines.  We are also going to look at the type of government, literacy rates, standard of living, and the relationship between investment in human capital, capital goods, entrepreneurship and GDP.

In addition, we are continuing  to discuss various Current Events through CNN10, and how they impact our world.

In Study Skills, we are working collaboratively with Ms. Lagoas on our Science Fair projects.  We are also collaborating with Dr. Mills and Ms. Robinson in completing our Math and ELA i-Ready requirements.

Important Note: Please do not submit any partial assignments into Canvas. Once submitted, they will be graded as is, and there won't be any time to go back and re-do assignments over and over. Thank you for your effort in following this request.

Also, adhere to due dates, or your grade will be affected.

Students be aware that if you are late on assignments, you will not receive full credit. Please be sure to get assignments turned in on time, and e-mail me to let me know when you have turned in an assignment past the due date, so I can grade it. In order to move forward, I will not continue to go back and re-check assignments that are past due, unless you notify me that you have finished.

When you e-mail me, be sure to include your Name/Class Period/ Date in the Subject Line!!!!
