Conjugation

Verbs in Latin have endings that change the meaning of the verb.

For example, when a verb ends in o, the subject of the verb is I. So scio means I know. When the verb end in t, the subject is he or she. So scit means she knows.

We learn these endings in a particular order and call the practice conjugating a verb.

 

Before learning to conjugate a regular verb, learn the irregular verb sum, esse - to be

Memorize the conjugation of sum, esse above and practice saying/writing it down. Be sure to know what each form means!!

When you have thoroughly learned the conjugation of sum, esse - to be, view the following presentation and take notes.

Memorize the conjugation of Porto and what each of the endings means. Also memorize the infinitive and imperative endings. 

Once you have learned to conjugate a regular verb thoroughly, you are ready to learn about the 4 conjugations (spellings) of the Latin verb. Review this presentation and take notes:
