Catullus V

In today's class we will be introduced to Latin lyric poetry. Students will be introduced to the famous love lyric, Catullus V. The learning target of this lesson is to apply our knowledge of Latin to translate an authentic text and appreciate the ancient love lyric.  We will translate and listen to this poem. Class will proceed as follows:

Opening: Students will listen to the song Baby, I Love You by the Ronettes.  Baby, I Love You Links to an external site.

Lesson:  Students will then get a copy of the poem, Catullus V. Students will work on the translation in small groups and then the whole class will go over the poem. Students will also read Catullus 8 and compare the two poems.   Catullus V Links to an external site.

 Closing: Students will review vocabulary for quiz tomorrow.
