Pietas and Irregular Verbs
In today's class we will focus on the learning targets of understanding pietas in the Roman culture and of recognizing and translating the irregular verbs in Latin. Class will proceed as follows:
Opening - Students will answer the questions below on the reading "Legendary Heroes of Early Rome"
Lesson - Students will complete practice assignment on the irregular verbs sum, possum, volo, nolo, fero and eo. This practice assignment was posted on Thursday, Feb. 17 in Canvas. Class will focus on corrections of the translations. Students will then practice conjugating irregular verbs.
Closing - Students will play a kahoot review.
Opening - Answer each question with a paragraph.
1) Do we value pietas in our society today? Give examples of how we do or do not value the concept and support your opinion with clear explanation of how the evidence you provide proves your point.
2) Is it harmful to idealize heroes and embellish their stories so that they become models for good behavior? Again, give examples and support your opinion with clear explanation.
