6th Grade World Studies

Hello and Welcome to Sixth-grade Social Studies. This is the first year of a two-year World Area Studies course. In this course, you will study Latin America, Canada, Europe, and Australia. The goal is to acquaint you with the world in which you live. The geography domain includes both physical and human geography. The intent of the geography domain is for you to begin to grasp the importance geography plays in your everyday lives. The government/civics domain focuses on selected types of government found in the various areas so that you can begin to understand the variety of governments in the world. The economics domain focus shifts from the United States to how other countries answer the basic questions of economics. The history domain focuses on major events in each region during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Supply List:  Flash drive, Blue or Black Pens AND pencils, Pocket Folder, scissors, rulers, large 4x6 index cards, 3x3 or larger sticky notes, pencil box, individual pencil sharpener, large paper clips, 3 ring binder, loose wide-ruled paper, colored markers, crayons, Regular Composition Books, Dividers (10 Tabs), a ream of copy paper 8 ½ x 11 (Any extra paper would be greatly appreciated), Agenda (purchase in the Media Center), hand sanitizer, wet-wipes. Masks are required in my room during the pandemic.

STUDENTS!!!!!  Jan 9: I had to re-set the Asynchronous Day Jan 9 assignment...at the top of the module...power been out/ etc...recheck it...you should be able to do it now. I just need you to finish the ppt on Australia we did yesterday and finish the graphic organizer...VERY SIMPLE! Love you! Ms. Miller
