End-of-Term Canvas Course Procedures 2025
Important Dates to Know
Canvas courses generated by Infinite Campus during the 2024-2025 academic year, specifically full-year and second semester courses will be automatically concluded as follows:
- Students: Friday, May 23rd, 2025 at 11:59 PM
- Teachers: Friday, May 30th, 2025 at 11:59 PM
(Course terms can be located from the Settings tab in the course navigation menu. Affected terms include: 2024/2025 - Full Year, 2024/2025 Sem 1-Sem 2, 2024/2025 Sem 2, 024/2025 Q3-Q4, 2024/2025 Q1-Q4, 2024/2025 Sem1-Sem2 and 2024/2025 Q4.)
Upon conclusion, courses will become read-only and inaccessible from the Canvas Dashboard. To access concluded courses, navigate to the 'Past Enrollments' section within the 'Courses' menu.
Best Practices for the End-of-Term
Before course conclusion, teachers are encouraged to:
- Verify Grades: Use the 'Export' button Links to an external site. found on the 'Grades' tab to download a CSV or Excel copy of the Canvas grade book for record-keeping purposes.
- Export Course Content: Utilize the 'Export Course Content' Links to an external site. tool in 'Course Settings' to save the course as a ZIP file. This file can be imported Links to an external site. into a Canvas course at any time.
- Import Course Content: Import
Links to an external site. all or specific course content into a Sandbox course or other Canvas course for continuing content development. Alternately, copy entire modules
Links to an external site. or select specific module items
Links to an external site. from the course to other Canvas courses.
Considerations for Part A / Part B Courses
It is important to identify and be aware of the Canvas terms associated with Part A / Part B courses generated by Infinite Campus. Once concluded, students will no longer have access to the Part A course directly from their Canvas Dashboard. To ensure continuity for students, it is recommended that teachers copy modules Links to an external site. or specific module items Links to an external site. from the Part A course that students will need access to into the Part B course. In addition, assignment submissions and grades will not carry over to the Part B course.
